Los Villagra has been touring extensively in America, Europe and Asia since 2014. They are one of the most sought-after couples to perform, teach, and judge in international festivals, events and competitions.

They are known not only for their elegance, precision and musicality, but also for their unique method “The Spiral Technique” created and developed by them. Every year they collect more and more followers that respect and admire their pedagogy, which came as a result of their passion and dedication to the traditions of Argentine Tango.

Although the Tango has evolved through the years, Los Villagra remains dedicated to the Tango that they know and love - the Tango that emphasizes embrace, walk, musicality, feeling and the traditional milongueros codes.

 

About Claudio Villagra

Claudio Villagra took his first steps at an early age, and his roots having come from his grandfather, Hector Contreras, who was his mentor in the early stages of his Tango training.  He then followed teachings by Juan Aurelio, Juan Carlos Copes, Virulazo, Antonio Todaro, Pepito Avellaneda, Gloria and Eduardo, Dinzel, N. Guichanduc; world-famous recognised Maestros who contributed extensively to his training.

Claudio has worked with the most famous and recognised Tango orchestras like Osvaldo Pugliese, Mariano Mores, Sexteto Sur, El Arranque, Sexteto Mayor, Color Tango amongst others.

His talent has earned him roles in the most renowned international stages in Broadway, Europe, Asia and America in shows alongside major companies as Tanguera, Tango Seduccion, Tango Argentino and Forever Tango, the latter being in the graphic image of the show.

Based on this knowledge and experience he later formed a new project, his own show “Latin Tango” developing the same as director and choreographer. His excellence led him to different countries teaching classes and being invited as jury of the most important championships and festivals of Tango around the world.

In his trajectory, he made many works with recognized dancers. Today he is partnered with one of the best dancers and artists of the tango world, Helena Fernandez. They form one of the most prestigious Argentine tango dance couples for their artistic versatility that allows them to interpret the most diverse styles, from tango salon, fantasy and traditional to the most modern and innovative.

 

About Helena Villagra

She graduated in Physiotherapy and specialized in neurological patients, having attended many courses in this area, and she uses these concepts in her classes of technique for women and Tango.

She lived in Argentina and at this time made lessons with important international teachers (Julio Balmaceda, Roberto Herrera, Jorge Dispari, Gustavo Naveira, Gavito, Jorge Firpo, Facundo e Kely, Gustavo Rosas, Gisela Natoli, Oscar Casais, Hugo Daniel).

Helena began classical dance training at the age of three. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance in London and also trained at the renowned Maria Oleneva Ballet School.

After a brief experience with Contemporary Ballet, Flamenco Dance and Latin Rhythms, Helena spent many years training in Buenos Aires with international tango masters: Turco José, Carlos Gavito, Julio Balmaceda, Roberto Herrera, Jorge Dispari, Facundo Posadas, Gustavo Naveira, Jorge Torres, and Jorge Firpo among others.

Helena has worked and performed around the world with many tango dancers which provided her many experiences to develop a distinguished way of dance. She has danced with performing companies such as Forever Tango, Tango Seducción, Tango and Passion including performances with live orchestras such as Color Tango, La Juan D'Arienzo and Quinteto Carla Algeri.

She has internationally performed in many famous theaters: Leicester Square Theater in London, Lotte World Theater in South Korea, Amazon Theater in Brazil, Olympia Theater in Paris, Scala Theater in Italy, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. She also did exhibitions at traditional and well-known milongas in Buenos Aires such as Canning, Sunderland, Confiteria Ideal, Manufatura Papelera, Si Sos Brujo Milonga, La Marshal and Gricel.

Helena’s television experience includes choreographing and coaching well-known actors and actresses. She, herself, has performed as a special guest on Dancing with the Stars in Belarus and Brazil.

Helena has judged international tango competitions in Europe, Asia, U.S. and South America. The most important of which was the semifinals of the International World Tango Championship in Italy, Greece, and San Francisco.

In addition, Helena graduated from European Madrid University as a Physical Therapist specializing in neurological rehabilitation. She uses this knowledge of human anatomy when teaching Tango techniques.

Helena now is in a ten year plus partnership with the international well-known tango dancer, Claudio Villagra. Together, they perform and teach all over the world. They are artistically known as Los Villagra.
